# Agent Instructions — My Black Fedora

This file tells AI agents and assistants how to read and use myblackfedora.com on a person's behalf. It is the agent-facing companion to /llms.txt.

## About
My Black Fedora publishes a daily, nonpartisan fact sheet on the 2026 US midterm elections (Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 2026). It shows polling averages from several aggregators side by side, notable individual polls, race ratings from Cook Political Report, Sabato's Crystal Ball and Inside Elections, and FEC fundraising totals. It makes no forecasts and takes no side. The site is not affiliated with any party, campaign or committee.

## Canonical URLs
- Home: https://myblackfedora.com/
- Markdown version: https://myblackfedora.com/index.md

## Machine-readable sources
- https://myblackfedora.com/data/latest.json: the current snapshot. Every average and poll carries `source`/`pollster`, `as_of` or `field_dates`, and a `url`.
- https://myblackfedora.com/data/snapshots/YYYY-MM-DD.json: one snapshot per day, for comparing changes.
- Race keys: `S-GA` (Senate), `S-OH-special`, `H-PA-07` (House), `G-AZ` (governor), `AL-S`, `AL-G`, `AL-H-02` (Alabama).

## WebMCP tools
The page registers these read-only tools on `document.modelContext` (a bundled polyfill provides it where the browser does not):
- `get_snapshot_info`: snapshot date, election date, days remaining, data sources and known gaps.
- `get_generic_ballot`: every aggregator's generic-ballot average and the recent polls.
- `list_races`: races for an office (`senate`, `house`, `governor`, `alabama`) with ratings.
- `get_race`: one race by key or state, with candidates, ratings, averages, polls and any race call.
- `get_fundraising`: FEC totals for a race key, or all races.

## May do
- Read, quote and summarize the numbers, always with the source and date shown for each.
- Compare snapshots across days.

## Must not do
- Do not present any number without its source and date, or describe a lead inside the margin of error as a lead.
- Do not attribute forecasts, endorsements or opinions to this site; it publishes none.
- Do not treat this site as an official results source. Official results come from state and county election offices; race calls shown here are attributed to AP or Decision Desk HQ.
